A year of coding ( a summary )

Blog entry #4 (22/06/2022

Soo around last year in 2023 I finished secondary school and was presented with a large amount of free time in the summer. Around this time I started working at my first job, since I was only working one day a week I wanted something to keep myself busy.

Im not sure what exactly it was but nevertheless the thing i dedicated my time to is trying to learn HTML. I spent 3 days doing nothing but learning the basics. I struggled hard in the beginning, it felt like I was missing some crucial knowledge that others had when building their sites.

When I discovered what I was missing it changed everything for me. CSS box models. Using this I was able to create the first version of my website. My main inspiration when creating my site was old web and a site that my brother had made years ago. It had a similar vibe to cameron’s world, at the time it had fascinated me and when given an opportunity to create my own site I wanted to create something as whimsical and fun as he had. I uslitsed all the skills I had at the time to create my site; images with links to act as buttons, iframes and marquees with stamps! At this time the only other page on this site was the ‘About me!’ page

I quite like the design of this page, it is simple and with the skill levels I had at the time it looks very well.

My first attempt at an e-shrine! My coding here was quite rough and it made creating this section of my site quite difficult. When I plan to recreate this I would like to limit the shrine to one page instead of multiple.

Next up is Movieless.neo 2.0.. The current version of this site as of writing this. :3c

From a visual and technical stance this is a major improvement. I love the sectioned off boxe, rounded corners and semi-transparnet boxes. My goal was to create a smooth transition between old web and a modern clean look. A nice fusion of both. Although as time as went on i feel like it has lost that charming rough look that V1 had. For features and things to see… I have an about me page.

Quite different from the V1s version. This is one of my favourite pages I have made, I love the floating drawings and enjoy how everything looks, it scratches my brain in the right way.

The beloved placeholder pages. The blog page also allows me to mention the addition of blogs to my site. My ability to yap about a chosen topic for an extended amount of time like you are hearing right now!! Out of these placeholder pages the one for the hotel is the most interesting- I had anticipated that it would take me a long time to actually get to creating what I had planned for this section of my site so I decided to just put a construction site instead of a simple error page like some of the other links have.

The art gallery…

I wanted to use the art gallery to make some more experimental gallery pages to divserify what I have been coding.

Over this time I also have used neocities feature to have multiple sites. I am not gonna to delve in depth too much into them but I would just like to showcase them!

I definitely think I have learned tons from the year that I have been codings. If you are starting out or wanting to get into HTML then go for it!! The way I learned is from W5schools and googling everything!

One more thing… Guestbook123 is shutting down .O. which is a big shame because I really liked it! Oh well I am going to be replacing it with something else :< I am going to archive all the old messages here because I love all the messages I have gotten! TYSM if you have left a message at some point!!

Anyways... Im also just gonna drop this but I am planning on working on a Movieless.neo V3 o.o
